Whether your teeth are stained, misshapen, chipped, or have gaps between them, veneers can instantly transform your smile and fix any of these cosmetic issues. If you are unhappy with the look of your teeth, veneers are a great way to get the smile you’ve always wanted.

What are veneers?

Veneers are ultra-thin pieces of porcelain that are incredibly strong once they have been bonded to your own natural teeth. Prior to the placement of your veneers, we will prepare your teeth by shaving them down or by removing a small layer of enamel from each tooth. This serves the dual purpose of making adequate room for your veneers, for a natural look, and to ensure that the veneers bond well to your natural teeth.

At your initial visit, we will create an impression of your teeth to craft the veneers around. This ensures that your veneers look and fit perfect.

What are the benefits of dental veneers?

  • Veneers require that less enamel be removed from the tooth than what would need to be removed with a cap or a crown

  • With proper care, veneers can last a lifetime

  • Veneers are much less likely to stain

  • Veneers appear natural

How fast will you see results?

After your appointment to shape your natural teeth and make impressions, you’ll have one or two additional appointments. During these appointments, we will ensure that each veneer fits the tooth well. Your teeth will be professionally cleaned, and your dentist will bond the veneers to them. Your smile will be instantly transformed, into one that you are proud to show off.

Who is a good candidate for veneers?

It’s important to keep in mind that your gums and teeth must be fairly healthy to be a good candidate for veneers. If any decay or infection needs to be treated, we will fix these prior to veneer placement.

If you grind or clench your teeth, you may not be a good candidate for getting veneers. This is due to how thin the veneers are. They are strong, when in place. However, they may not be able to stand up to repeated grinding and clenching pressure. Wearing a plastic dental guard at night may be able to help keep your veneers protected.

Veneers require the removal of tooth enamel prior to bonding to your natural teeth; because of this process, it’s not possible to undo the veneers process and go back to simply your natural teeth. Veneers are a permanent smile solution.

Over time veneers can potentially come loose. It’s essential that you keep up with routine dental visits so that you can keep your teeth and gums as healthy as is possible. Routine visits can help to identify any issues in the early stages before they are allowed to escalate into a larger more severe issue.
